Opportunities for addictive and risky behaviors are increasing for our youth, ranging from substance use and screens to video gaming and online gambling. These behaviors are not only becoming more prevalent, but are also beginning at earlier ages, contributing to rising

rates of use disorders, and an interwoven youth mental health crisis. Fortunately, there is a wealth of prevention science that offers a clear path forward.

This workshop synthesizes that research into a cohesive and memorable 5-part model for preventing and intervening early in substance use, process addictions, and other self- destructive behaviors. Participants will explore how to systemically and individually cultivate addiction-resistance and resilience in youth beginning in early childhood, across individual, family, school, and community settings.
